Why should I consider doing research?

Getting involved in research offers you the unique chance to delve into complex problems that often don't have clear-cut solutions. This is your opportunity to engage in critical thinking, embrace your independence, and unleash your creativity as you explore uncharted territory.

If you're considering graduate school, research experience isn't just beneficial; it's almost essential. It sets you apart as a candidate and equips you with the skills that graduate programs value most.

What do undergraduate volunteers typically do in the CHAI lab?

We typically recruit volunteers to work closely with a graduate student on one of their projects.

We have had volunteers train machine learning models on sensor data, create new smartphone apps and browser plugins, analyze transcripts from interviews, and help with study coordination and data collection.
